Bethany Overbey
~Violin, Viola, Piano and Celtic Fiddle Lessons~

Bethany began playing the piano at age 5 and the violin at age 8 in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. She studied with Pagosa violin teacher Kate Kelly for 7 years. At age 16 she began studying with Dr. Kasia Sokol at Fort Lewis College and at age 17 she was attending college full time pursuing a degree in Violin performance. During this time she was the concertmaster of the Durango Youth Symphony and the Fort Lewis College Chamber Orchestra. She also played with the San Juan Symphony. Bethany graduated from Fort Lewis College with the honors Magna Cum Laude and recieved the Outstanding Music Performance Graduate Award. After graduation in 2013 she studied with Andrew Wilson. Bethany has performed in the Durango Bach Festival, the Durango Celtic Music Festival, the Durango Bluegrass Meltdown, and The Aztec Highland Games. She has performed with the San Juan Symphony, Telluride Ballet Collective/New York City Ballet, the Santa Barbara Ballet, the San Juan Mountain Boys, Dave Mensch, the Makhbeth Celtic Duo and the Legend of Zelda Symphony. Bethany had the privilege of playing for Vadim Gluzman, Arkady Fomin, Valeri Avramenko, Renata Artman-Knific, David Greenburg, and Alasdair Fraser and has attended the Music in the Mountains Conservatory in Durango, CO, The Boxwood Music Festival in Lunenburg, Novia Scotia, and the Teresa Bourke Fiddle Camp in Thurles co, Ireland. She is also currently a member of The Travelers, a group of musicians dedicated to arranging, recording, and performing video game music.
